Hi Rabbi. Can you please explain both sides of the debate regarding chadash and yashan? Is it a deoraita or a derabanan in our days and chutz laaretz? What are the halachic mechanisms at play for either leniency or stringency?
Thank you.

The Rama in Shulchan Aruch quotes the Tur & Rash as follows:
All regular grains are fine as they are a Sfek-Sefeka, a double Safek.
For years we were only eating what was researched as Yashan, until we found out that the data is corrupted and inaccurate. So, we leave it as a Sfek-Sefeka and it is permitted.
For more detailed info look at the ערוך השולחן, יורה דעה רצ״ג and you will find a thorough review.
Ignore all the noise!
