In this year’s pesach list it says vanilla is ok but I was under the impression from years past that vanilla is not consistently ok. Can you please clarify? for exampe in vanilla yogurts
second question- are products with yeast extract considered chametz, chametz gamur, or neither?
Also- if I have many bottles of vanilla in my home, must I get rid of them if I do not sell chametz?
No need to get rid of them. Put them away till after.
Thank you- can you comment on the yeast extract by any chance?
Yeast extract is not a problem for Pesach. It is rendered inedible during the processing.
vanilla as a flavoring ingredient in a product is okay, because even if there’s alcohol in it, and even if the alcohol is from grain, the total amount of grain in the product is minimal, and thus batel.
Buying a bottle of vanilla extract is different.
