Rabbi Abadi – Do you have any thoughts/advice on what is permissible to eat on a cruise ship that does not have a dedicated kosher kitchen? I keep a vegan diet, and my wife keeps a vegetarian diet. We have never been on a cruise before. I am thinking we can at least eat many vegan items from the salad bar, and maybe rice if made in a dedicated rice cooker, and probably some bread. And I imagine we could ask them to wrap some tofu or the like in foil like others do for fish. But I am wondering, given what you have already shared about eating out in other contexts, if it might be possible to eat vegan hot dishes, such as Indian food, prepared in the cruise ship kitchens? My understanding is that cruise staff tend to be very attentive to dietary needs, and the cruise will have clearly identified vegan menu options, if not a separate vegan menu. But I assume that the vegan and non-vegan foods are cooked in the same kitchen (with a separate prep area only for those with actual food allergies). Thank you for any help with this! – Alan K.

It’s very simple. If they confirm anything is vegan or vegetarian, you can eat it. No need for complex clarifications.
Enjoy your cruise.
