What are the implications in finding during Pesach some closed package of chometz item over Pesach that was not cleanly put away in the box? We make sure to write “and anywhere else”. Should this be covered / destroyed or (during the intermediate days) put away with the rest of the chometz belonging to the goy? I know some people have a minhag of not selling chometz gamur but our families never brought this up (e.g. as a child I recall a pasta machine which is impossible to clean). Thank you

If it was sold, just put it with the rest of the Chametz. If it was not sold, it’s too late to add it on Pesach. So, just throw it in the trash. If you find it on Shabbat or Yom Tov, when it is Muktzah, put a box over it or something, so no one eats it by mistake and then throw it out after Shabbat or Yom Tov is over.
There’s no problem to sell chametz gamur if you sell properly. If you don’t sell properly then it’s a problem even if not chametz gamur.
Thank you, yes, I recall a scandal in Israel some years ago when an Arab “goy” elaborated on his distinguished Muslim lineage and his family’s respect and admiration for Jews, explaining his own mother was Jewish. This came to light after years because the Arab wanted to impress the younger Rabbi sent in place of the elderly one that he usually met with.
Is there a specific option you would recommend? We have been using Chabad.org for a long time, they were recommended to us around the time that scandal happened.
Chabad.org is likely excellent.
They had a scandal like that in Far Rockaway, but I knew the guy well and the Rabbis made up the story for the drama of it. The guy was 100% not Jewish. lol
Now that you say it, that does sound like a possibility, especially considering the follow up, they ruled nobody had to destroy any chometz. I don’t recall the exact details though.
It happens a lot. People are eager to push a cool story. lol
