Rabbi Abadi,

My situation: Shabbat and Yamim Tovim I’m in shul for sure, and I try to catch weekday mincha and maariv. The rest I daven at home – and honestly, I enjoy it more and feel better davening at home.

For someone in that position, is tefilla betzibbur a daily obligation in the din itself, or an ideal?

And a practical piece: at home, alone, the davening is slower and deeper; in many minyanim the pace is fast. Does the yachid’s kavana weigh in against the tzibbur?

One more: what was the nature of the mitzvah of tefilla for the Avos and in the times of the Gemara – and what does that say about davening alone versus betzibbur today?
