The five grains relevant for Pesach are:
חיטה, שעורה, שיפון, כוסמין, שיבולת שועל
Many assume the following to be their English translations:
Wheat, Barley, Rye, Spelt, and Oats.
However, the only ones we can be certain about are wheat (חיטה) and barley (שעורה). The identification of the other three grains is questionable, and the translation of שיבולת שועל as “oats” is particularly inaccurate. Oats have no relation to wheat or barley, and their DNA structure is entirely different. As explained in our [FAQ section](https://kashrut.org/faq/), oats should not be considered one of the five grains and are more similar to rice in this regard.
