Hi,
What is the best way for a person to learn halacha today? Many people read halacha sefarim straight through like a book. Is that a good approach, or should halacha be learned differently? What should a person be thinking and asking while he learns, and how does he know he is learning the right way?

Should a person learn the subjects he enjoys most, like Chassidus, or should he always focus on Gemara and Mishnah? How should the two be balanced?
And for Mishnah: if someone reads English much faster and his Hebrew is not strong yet, is it better to learn in English, or should he work through it in Hebrew?
Thank you
