rice looks like a grain, grows like a grain, and fills the plate like bread, but it is not one of the five grains. so what bracha does it get?

1. plain cooked rice: mezonos, ha’adama, or she’hakol? and is the answer the same for rice dishes, rice cakes, rice pasta, and rice milk?

2. if rice is mezonos, does it ever behave like bread? for example if someone makes a whole meal of it, the way mezonos can become ha’motzi when a person is kovei’a seuda. or is rice locked out of ha’motzi no matter what?

3. and the after bracha: al hamichya or borei nefashos?

bottom line: what bracha goes on rice before and after, and does rice have any bread powers at all?
