We are moving into a new apartment with not a lot of counter space in the kitchen. Can you please clarify the following:
- Is it possible to prepare meat and dairy meals on the same counter, without covering it for one or the other?
- Must anything be done in between besides a thorough cleaning?
- Does it matter if meat or dairy food actually touches the countertop?
- Is it a problem if hot pots or pot lids are put on the countertop in the course of cooking?
- Does it matter if the countertop is wet?
- The Countertops are MARBLE.
Thank you very much!

None of the above is a problem. Separate countertops for meat and milk is not a Jewish or Halachic concept. Use it as normal. Enjoy your new apartment!
