I was asked today if we need to use only red wine for the Seder on Pesach. He quoted my father’s sefer Ohr Yitzhak which seems to say that it is a must.

In response, you can see in the Sugya that the Rishonim held that it is not required. When my father seems to say you should use only red wine, he’s just showing you how to accomplish that if you want to do a Zecher to blood, and he’s making that point that don’t add red wine or grape juice to white wine to make it red on Yom Tov because of Tzovea. But he is in no way saying that red wine is a requirement, if you have a good white wine. See the Tur & Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim 272 & 472 and make sure you see the TA”Z (472:9)
