Subject:  Sabbath Mode oven
Message:  Dear Rabbi:
I have a Kitchen Aid oven that has a Sabbath Mode. This is what the manual says:
"The Sabbath Mode sets the oven to remain on in a bake setting. When the Sabbath Mode is set, the number pads are active(operational). No tones will sound and the display will not show messages or temperature changes.SAb ON will appear on the display. When the oven door is opened or closed, the heating elements will not turn on or off immediately. To change the temperature, press one of the number pads for one second--no tones will sound and the display will not change. The heating elements will not turn on or off for a random time, anywhere from 16 to 24 seconds, after START is pressed. It may take up to one-half hour for the oven to change temperature."
My questios are:
1. Can I use the oven on Shabbat, if set before Shabbat, for anything?
2. Can I use the oven on Yom Tov? Can I change the temperature?
Thanks for your response.
