Subject:  Halal Vegetarian Foodstuffs
Message:  i'm taking the plunge to keep kosher since i will be receiving new cookware and will have my own kitchen. For the past few years I have been buying vegetarian foodstuffs that are often certified halal and am unsure if they are kosher for use. Vegetarian curry pastes and other paste things that you combine with coconut milk or other liquids to make curries or stews. Are these kosher for use? Can i still use these without worry about needing to rekasher my pots and pans for other orthodox friends? Do i have to inform them that i use these types of non hechshered ingredients?

Reply:  Vegetarian foodstuffs won't spoil your pots and pans. No worries.
