Subject:  Rice Bishul Akum everywhere?
Message:  Shalom Rabbi,

I am a member of the Shanghai Jewish community. Here in China, rice is not only considered not "food fit for kings", but rather "food fit for farmers". Some of the business meeting restaurants don't even have it on the menu (because serving your business partners rice is a loss of face). Does Bishul Akum still apply to it in China?

Reply:  I am not personally familiar with the culture in China, but if it is as you say, then you are 100% right, and Bishul Akum wouldn't apply.
