Subject:  Yeshivish dresscode
Message:  kavod harav,
i understand it's important to dress like a mench and not like a complete goy, but me' ikar hadin there's nothing wrong with dressing in other clothing besides black and white, as brought down by rav moshe (iggrot moshe (yd 1:71), rav shternbach in teshvot vanhgot (1:453) as well has in mishne halachot of rav menashe klein (4:115) based on the rambam in hilchot avoda zara (11:1) which says that only if its a beged that's specifically for goyim it would be assur. last time i checked, jeans are not a specifically goyish malbush. If thats the case, my question is why has it been the minhag for many yeshiva bachurim only wearing a black suit and white shirt even outsdie of the bet midrash and when not davening
Reply:  You're right.
Your guess is as good as mine.
