Subject:  Bishul Akum/Pat Akum
Message:  Dear R. Abadi,

Would the following still have the prohibitions of bishul akum?
1. Seering (since its not a conventional way of cooking)
2. Side dishes i.e. french fries, mashed potatoes, pasta etc.

Reply:  Yes on all.
Most Rabbis will say that almost all the foods today fit the category of "eaten at a King's table, " as our Kings today eat more like us.
I, Personally, am not quite sure about all that. Similarly, they aren't ready to consider sushi as a way to make fish be considered, "eaten as raw."
