Subject:  Kollel
Message:  1. How can the kollel guys in your father's yeshiva survive on only $7200 a year? Don't they need more than this.

2. What do you make of these people who come to the U.S. to collect "tzedakah" so they can buy their children an apartment in Israel. Since when is this tzedakah, and why do parents in Israel have this obligation but not in the U.S.?
Reply:  1) Yes! But unfortunately that is the amount of a well paying Kollel in Israel. Personally, I think we should take the millions a year spent on Kollels, and use it for that select few that it is right for, and have them live with dignity.
2) In Israel if you can't buy an apartment, you can't marry off your child. However, if the person can buy a low priced apartment, but wants a better area, or if he is not working, but rather learning the regular Yeshiva way of a few pages per year, then don't waste your money.
