Subject:  dishes previously used for treif
Message:  I am new to keeping kosher. I have bought only kosher meat and separated milk and meat meals for the last year (but not my dishes). I want to now kosher my kitchen, but don't have very much money to replace a lot of things. As far as dishes go, I have one set of glazed stoneware and one set of china, both of sentimental value. They have both been previously used for milk and meat (recently) as well as for treif (one year ago). Can you shed some light on if I can use them? If so, what should I do to them? Thank you!

Reply:  As long as they are glazed, you can designate one for meat and one for milk from now on.
