Subject:  A NON-JEW TURNING OFF LIGTS DURING SHABBAT
Message:  YOU STATED WHAT YOU CAN'T SAY DURING SHABBAT YOU ALSO CAN'T SAY BEFORE SHABBAT IN REFERENCE TO A NON-JEW TURNING OFF THE LIGHTS IF TOLD "BEFORE" SHABBAT. WHAT THEN IS THE CONCEPT THAT I LEARNED CALLED "SHABBAT GOY?"IF THAT IS THE JOB, THEN WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? IF ONE HAS A LIVE IN MAID, THEN WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH HER TURNING ON LIGHTS, OVEN, ETC IF SHE IS A GOY AND YOU ARE NOT DOING IT YOURSELF?THANK YOU

Reply:  that concept is a misconception. Maybe after the holiday we'll clarify. There are very LIMITED situations where one can ask a Goy to do something that they themselves are not allowed.
