Subject:  calling doctor on shabbos?
Message:  hi,
i wanted to know if a child has high fever are you allowed to phone a doctor on shabbos? or can you drive to the hospital?
If the answers to the questions are NO, then what other steps can a person take?
thanks in advance for your reply

Reply:  You can phone without a problem if a child is running a high fever. Theer is no specific level. Each parent should know their child. If in doubt, call the doctor. Don't be strict on how you dial or answer, just dial and answer. If the doctor says you should go to the hospital asap, then go immediately. If he says it is not a big emergency, but you should get to the office or hospital, then get a goy to drive or call a taxi. If he says call first aid, call. However, these are all complicated Halachos and pretty scary when it happens, so if you know before Shabbos that there may be an issue, call a Rov before Shabbos.
