Subject:  Going by the Gemara
Message:  Message:        1 I believe that your site is qiddush haShem, focusing on Torah she baal peh. Your answer to "Chaim" on kashrut is on target.

2 Please explain why some permit women's wigs, especially on Shabbat, when gemara seems to outlaw the practice.

Reply:      1. Thank you
2. We don't pasken from Gemara. Plus, there are other Gemaras that say differently

Alan, from CYA's reply that "we don't pasken from Gemara," without elaborating on that at all and mentioning the minority opinion instead, you can already see that this site does not focus at all on Torah She Ba'al Pe. It rather follows a complex system of post-talmudic innovations, contemporary gedoylim, and "majorities" outside the context of the Sanhedrin. But you probably agree with me that the development of Jewish Law as we know it today ended with the sealing of the Babylonian Talmud.

Reply:  Can you rephrase? I'm not sure what your point is.
