Subject:  early shabbos
Message:          What I do is, daven Mincha and then eat the meal, then go daven Maariv after night.

When do you make kiddush???
Do you make kiddush on Friday afternoon (ie. before the meal and Maariv) or Shabbat night (after Arvit)?

How about Hamotzi?
If you make Hamotzi before Arvit then would the Shabbat
meal be the Erev Shabbat meal?
Or can you make Hamotzi after Mincha, eat the meal, then pray Arvit, make kiddush and then say Birchat Hamazon? (I think this is what we did for Purim this year??)

I am not trying to be obnoxious, I really don't understand.

Personally I grew up with a mother who is an Italian Jew. We always ate a light meal(5PM) in the summer to then sit down to our supper at 8PM or later. It was just too hot to eat earlier and well, to sweat while you eat would be just so...... common. But of course that was before air conditioning.
Reply:  Mincha is in the day. Then even before sunset you can make "early Shabbat" by making Kiddush. From that point forward for you it is Shabbat. Then after the meal pray Arbit/Maariv. Not too complicated.
