Subject: intant hot water on shabbat
Message: is it permitted to use an instant hot water dispenser on shabbat?

Reply: No
HI rabbi . How does the isur of using a hot water dispenser differ from using a hot water tank that had its temp lowered to be used for washing dishes/shower etc.?

Reply: nope, you can't lower a dispenser. Plus, most dispensers turn on the heat coil when you turn the faucet/knob.

Rabbi i believe my unit has a temp lowering knob in the rear of the machine.(its the type that takes that 5 gallon bucket upside down as oppose to the one that is mounted to the plumbing under to the sink) So my question is , how do i determine whether the hot coil kicks in the instant i take water from the hot spout and if it does not do it instantly is it ok to use it, assuming i lowerd the temp before shabbos to the permitted temp?
