Subject:  MINYAN
Message:  I PRAY WITH A MINYAN BY MY OFFICE EVERYDAY. DURING MINYAN I KEEP MY CELL PHONE ON SO MY GRANDFATHER WHO IS BLIND AND CANT REALLY LEAVE THE HOUSE CAN LISTEN AND FOLLOW ALONG. IS HE ALLOWED TO ANSWER KADISH AND FULFILL HIS OBLIGATION TO PRAY WITH MINYAN. CAN HE BE COUNTED IN OUR MINYAN IF HE IS ON SPEAKER PHONE ANSWERING?

Reply:  He cannot be counted in the Minyan, but he can pray with and answer and it would be considered Tefila Betzibbur (as if he prayed in Shul).
